Investing in Youth-Led Change When It Matters Most

Empowering young changemakers to transform their communities through early-stage funding, mentorship and support.

The Challenge

Youth-led organizations receive less than 1% of global philanthropic funding, creating an impossible catch-22: young founders need resources to build capacity, but need capacity to access resources.

Programs That Empower

Seed Grants, Mentorship & Capacity Building

Core Program:
Seed Grants for Youth-Led Organizations

Youth Startup Fund’s flagship program provides seed grants ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 to youth-led nonprofit organizations and social ventures in their first three years of operation. Grants are flexible and unrestricted, allowing young founders to deploy resources where they are most needed—whether for program implementation, organizational infrastructure, community engagement, staff/volunteer support, or operational costs.

We evaluate applications based on vision and potential, founder capability, community impact, organizational readiness, and alignment with values. Our accessible, youth-friendly application process accepts video, written, or hybrid formats, recognizing that traditional grant applications often disadvantage the very founders we aim to support.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Youth Leadership: Founded and led by person(s) aged 16-35
  • Organizational Stage: First three years of operation
  • Legal Status: Registered nonprofit, social enterprise, or community-based organization
  • Mission Alignment: Addressing social, economic, environmental, or humanitarian challenges
